Leah Tan Passmore is a Filipino-Canadian emerging artist based in Vancouver and Squamish, BC. She graduated with a BA in Visual Art in 2011 from the University of British Columbia where she focused on photography, painting, printmaking and art history. She is currently in the Photography Certificate continuing studies program at Emily Carr University of Art and Design while working on a portfolio to pursue graduate studies in fine art (MFA). She is interested in serial-based work and how the camera is used as a tool to collect and accumulate various subjects and objects, whether human-made or found in nature. In addition to photography, she is interested in painting, sculpture and public art. Her work is rooted in the investigation of human relationships (social, personal, familial, ethical and environmental) and is informed by interests in bridging the sacred and secular.
She has been living part-time in Squamish since after the pandemic where she enjoys hiking, paddle boarding, mountain biking and would really love to get into rock climbing. She is also skiing as much as she can in Whistler.
