Art Exhibit at the FOYER GALLERY in the Squamish Public Library
January 23rd through March 18th
SARAH MCDONALD, ‘Soft Focus’, acrylic & oil paintings & prints
This exhibit plays with depth of field and different perspectives of the way we see things. This series focuses mostly on nature subjects and the inspiration was from spending time outdoors in the mountains, going on walks with my family, and enjoying the nature that surrounds us.
VANESSA SPARROW, ‘Vaalia’, felted fibre vessels & wall hangings
Most important in my art, aside from the simple joy of being able to express my fascination with organic shapes and textures (something I value deeply about felting) is the physical, tactile nature of the process.

The Ferry Building Gallery is proud to present “Harvest” featuring the works of Janine Dunn and Biliana Velkova. “Harvest” brings together the down-to-earth perspectives of Dunn, a rural farmer, and the imaginative musings of Velkova. The gallery becomes a meeting ground for the practical and the mythical, where sustainability and folklore intertwine to offer a unique exploration of life’s cycles.
Sashiko is a running stitch used traditionally for quilting and mending in Japan. At its most elevated, it is a fine art form, but its humble roots come from country folk mending their indigo dyed hemp garments. Mending is having a renaissance as we look for ways to counter the wasteful and harmful aspects of the textile industry. In this fun, relaxing workshop you will learn simple stitches, including sashiko, and mending techniques. Bring your jeans, jean jacket or other textile item to mend or embellish. Bring scissors and a bit of fabric that inspires you or the pieces supplied (fee includes most materials & supplies). Note: the gallery is closed to the public during the workshop.
