    Future Needs Study Launch

    In this traditional competition, artists must compose, paint, complete and frame (or finish) a piece of art outdoors “en plein air.”

    Works will be judged and fabulous prizes donated by Opus Art Supplies will be awarded. Participants may exhibit and sell their art created during the competition from 4 to 7 p.m. on the day of the challenge.

    To celebrate National AccessAbility Week (May 26 – June 1), the Squamish Public Library and the District of Squamish’s Accessibility Committee invite you to a screening of the film Crip Camp!

    The screening will be followed by a discussion – everyone is welcome to stay and chat but you are welcome to leave after the film is over. Popcorn and snacks will be provided!

    The film is rated R for some language, including sexual references. Teens and adults are encouraged to attend.

    There will be accommodations available at the event including closed captions, all-genders washroom, wheelchair access building and screening room, quiet corner away from crowd, air purifier and masks welcome.

    Intro to Kumiko Woodworking

    Join Rob LeBlanc to make your first wooden Kumiko panel over three sessions. Kumiko is a traditional Japanese woodworking method that creates delicate and artistic panels without the use of nails. Using hand-tools and precision, students will learn how to measure and cut angles to assemble an "asanoha" or "hemp leaf" panel. Panels can be used in other woodworking projects as decorative door fronts, or as hanging art pieces.

    This course runs for three consecutive Wednesday evenings starting at 6pm June 19th.

    This course is open to everyone, as there are no pre-requisite skills. (18+ due to our insurance, thank you!)

Their works strive to capture an essence or feeling, moving beyond mere representation. By harnessing a variety of unique styles and painting techniques, these artists convey the emotional and atmospheric qualities of the landscapes they depict.

    The Mighty Tear Drops

    The Mighty Teardrops are a Vancouver quintet who serve up vintage bluegrass music with sweetness and drive.

    Singer/guitarist Lorraine Cobb and singer/bassist Woody Bell Junior provide haunting harmonies, while fiddler Josh Zubot, mandolinist Mark Vaughan, and banjo man Devon Wells lend sizzling breaks and tasty fills.

    The Mighty Teardrops’ blend of original tunes, bluegrass and country music deep cuts, and straight-ahead standards has been a hit at festivals and clubs, leaving audiences thrilled by the songs, the showmanship, and the devastating licks.

    Come on down to the Brackendale Art Gallery and enjoy the show!
