Based in Squamish, B.C. and led by singer-songwriter Samantha Sinanan, Cowgirl Lovebrand also includes the magic of Antti Makitalo on electric guitar and features a variety of guest musicians when the occasion calls. Cowgirl Lovebrand performs both original and cover tunes – covering some of their favourite artists including Joni Mitchell, Lucinda Williams, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Neil Young and more. Professional improvisor and actor Lauren McGibbon in coming to Squamish to facilitate a mixed level improv workshop titled 'Don't Panic'. 'Don't Panic' is a fun and empowering workshop on commitment to character, environment and the moment, to make you more confident when hitting the stage. By committing to the moment and getting specific with choices, improvisors see how audiences will follow them into more truthful and universally human scenes and stories. Don’t panic! Poetry is for everyone and everyone is a poet. This is the space to witness your neighbourhood talent and to discover you're a poet too.
As a powerful tool of self-expression, poems' topics vary from deeply personal to universal: joy, trauma, love, sexuality, humour, embarassment, religion, politics and the full depth of the human mind and heart are explored at this event.
