Join the Squamish Public Library and Foundry Sea to Sky operated by Sea to Sky Community Services as we celebrate the dedication of a special new book into the Local History Collection.
“A Transformation of Spirits” is a collaboratively produced coffee table book describing the story of how the Foundry Totem Pole was imagined, carved, painted and installed at Foundry Sea to Sky. We’ll be joined by See Appl-tun (Art Harry), Squamish Nation artist and mentor, who will share his experiences leading a group of youth in the carving of this totem pole.
We will also be learning about Foundry Sea to Sky’s annual TRC Day Canoe Pull for youth, through a video put together by local filmmaker Darren Roberts. See Appl-tun and his family are immersed in Canoe Culture, which is used in Squamish Nation culture today to help young people and their families to engage in healing and restorative practices together.
