Join us for an immersive tour and introduction to “The Mill: Voices, Sounds, and Textiles from BC’s Forestry Industry,” a new exhibit by artist Russell Gendron.
This multimedia project explores British Columbia’s forestry industry through sound art and quilting, capturing the experiences of workers on Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory and beyond. Visitors will experience an evocative environmental soundscape, music created from machine noises, and voices sharing stories of daily tasks, industry closures, and more.
Also featured are memory quilts that honor the workers, communities, and landscapes impacted by forestry.
Gendron will introduce his work, followed by a Q&A session.
Born in Vancouver and former sawmill worker, Gendron now lives in Montreal.
