For six unhurried Wednesday evenings, you will work slowly and deliberately, with generous explanation and live demonstration at every stage. Nothing is rushed. Every technique is shown, explained, and practiced until it feels natural in your hand.

Oil paint is the medium of Rembrandt, Vermeer, and Velázquez, and the methods they used have been passed quietly from master to apprentice for centuries. In this class, those closely guarded secrets are brought into the open: how to prepare a surface, mix colors that glow, build a painting in patient layers, and give light and depth to the canvas. You will not only discover these hidden gems, you will put them into practice with your own brush.

Over the six weeks, following the instructor’s step-by-step demonstrations, you will complete two paintings: a still life painted from life, and your own copy of a famous old-master work, revealed on the first night. Along the way you will gain a real understanding of traditional oil technique, grow in skill and confidence, and take home finished works to hang on your wall.

This is more than a technical class. It is an invitation to slow down, look closely, and travel deep into your inner self, to the quiet focus that painters have always known. Whether you have never held a brush or simply want a fresh start, you are welcome here.
