In the first workshop, participants will hand build a bowl using clay slabs and simple shaping techniques. In the second workshop, they will decorate their bowl using coloured underglazes and the sgraffito technique, scratching through the colour to reveal patterns and designs in the clay.
All tools and guidance will be provided, and no prior clay experience is required.

Rosemary Slater
Rosemary has been teaching hand-building with clay in schools and the community since 2006. She began as an instructor for a ceramics business franchise, Clay-for Kids, in Calgary, and set up her own ceramics business, CLAYTIVITY, when she came to live in Squamish in 2016. CLAYTIVITY brings ‘the joy of working with clay’ to community groups, parties and events, private individuals, and classes in the Sea-to-Sky School District, and has hosted family friendly and adult workshops for the Squamish Arts Festival since 2020.
