Elena Senatorova

Throughout her life, Elena Senatorova has had the opportunity to reside in various parts of the globe. Although she was born in Moscow, Russia, she spent her childhood in Beijing, China, and eventually settled in Vancouver, Canada, in 2002. For some time, Elena worked in non-artistic fields, until a tragic family event compelled her to reevaluate her life’s direction. Consequently, she left her job and embarked on a journey to become a professional visual artist. As she explained, “I assessed my life and came to the realization that I was dissatisfied with my career. I knew I needed to make a change and find a path that would bring back the quality and significance in my life and satisfy my soul once more.” Since that turning point, Elena has consistently worked on honing her abilities and talents to create paintings that capture the everyday experiences and transformations she observes, ranging from natural scenery to human faces. She prefers to work from life, believing that photographic images fail to do justice to colors and values and can only serve as a supplementary tool. Elena values capturing the first impression of the object, scene, or moment, as well as the unique connection she feels to it.
