Chris was brought up in a large family full of doctors in the North of England. His beloved Great Aunty Mary was part of the John Ruskin Art & Crafts Movement and taught Chris to paint in watercolours. She was a contemporary of many Victorian Lakeland Artists. It was at elementary school in The Lake District of Cumbria, where he discovered a lifelong passion for both art and hiking mountains.
He completed an art foundation course at Manchester University before going on to study Architecture. A career as a professional Architect allowed Chris the opportunity to travel extensively and never remain static, always evolving and continually problem solving the projects he worked on. Chris visualizes his ideas in three-dimensional form easily and has remained open to trying new things and exploring new materials. His final project was the high profile design of an iconic Oil Museum for the State of Kuwait in the Middle East.
Alongside his career, painting remained Chris’s joy and relaxation. Chris retired from Architecture in 2016 and moved to Squamish to embrace a healthy outdoor lifestyle. His wife Jenny has been by his side throughout it all and they enjoy hiking the mountains of the Sea to Sky corridor regularly. Chris paints in oils and watercolours from an art studio in his home and strives to capture his experiences of the mountains he loves in his work. Chris and Jenny have two wonderful children who live nearby with their young families.
