Join Skwxwú7mesh Úxwumixw artist Siobhan Joseph in conversation with artist and cultural ambassador Deanna Lewis as they discuss Joseph’s evolving practice and the stories behind her murals in Squamish.

Siobhan Joseph

Siobhan Joseph is a Squamish Nation artist who has been steadily building her reputation as a muralist and painter. She describes her paintings as a reflection of both “traditional” styles of the Indigenous peoples of the Northwest coast of British Columbia and more “realistic” portrayals of animals.

Deanna Lewis

Deanna Lewis, a member of the Sḵwx̱wú7mesh people, embodies the roles of educator, entrepreneur, and cultural ambassador. As the Squamish Nation Owner of KC Kalkalilh Communications, she channels her ancestral name, Kalkalilh, to bridge cultures and communities. With four years of service on the Squamish Nation council, Deanna is also recognized for her expertise as a Cultural Awareness and Gender Safety Facilitator, alongside her creative pursuits as an artist.

Squamish Muralists in Conversation

Join Squamish Arts and Squamish Mural Festival for a lively evening of conversation with four artists who’ve created meaningful art in our community, moderated by local artist and graphic designer Alex J Fowkes.

David Camisa

David Camisa, a British-Canadian artist, illustrator, and muralist, creates surreal, vibrant worlds where diversity is celebrated. His internationally featured practice blends fine art, illustration, and murals into dynamic visual storytelling.

Lacey Jane

Lacey Jane Wilburn, half of renowned street art duo LALA, creates vibrant site-specific murals worldwide, blending expressive realism with glowing colour to celebrate community stories and beauty.

Dominik Kalita

Dominik, a Banff-born, Squamish-raised designer, illustrator, and tattoo artist, draws inspiration from cartoons, skateboarding, and mountain life. Outside work, he skis, bikes, and adventures with his dog, always chatting to her.

Nat Tuke

Nat Tuke is an Australian artist and graphic designer living in Squamish, BC. Her art is heavily inspired by those ‘This is it’ moments – that perfect wave; the fleeting alpine glow; a setting sun glittering on a glassy ocean.

Alex Fowkes

Alex, a U.K.-born designer with global experience, values experimentation and play. Proficient across media, he integrates typography into environments, authors books, and crafts impactful installations, campaigns, branding.
