Lisa Elbertsen

Lisa Elbertsen moved from Toronto, Ontario to BC in 1994 and then settled in Squamish, BC in 2003, where she resides today. Lisa started dabbling in clay on and off in the late 90’s but didn’t get serious about it until 2005. Lisa has taken numerous courses over the years and in 2010, had a pottery studio built on her property. Lisa is a handbuilder which means she does not use a pottery wheel to create her work. Everything she makes starts with a flat slab of clay. Oh and texture. “I am allllll about texture on my work. I find it really makes my glazes pop!”

“I love the mountains and the ocean and it is what inspires everything I make. You can probably see that theme throughout most of my work. I love ocean kayaking. I’m crazy about dogs. I love bears. I think bears are my spirit animal.”
