Carola Joyce

My name is Carola Joyce, I’m a native Texan, and I’ve studied art seriously my entire life, most recently winning first place in the Atlanta ‘Genesis VII’ Juried Art Exhibition for my ‘Marilyn’ mosaic.

My art career began when I drew on my nursery walls at age 2. Since then I took as many art classes and workshops I could. I studied painting and ceramics at the University of Houston and University of Delaware, exploring painting, pottery and mosaics for many years. I’m inspired by Gustav Klimt, Marc Chagall, Paul Gauguin, Georgia O’Keefe and Frida Kahlo.

I aim to ‘uplift the human spirit’ with my art, and often paint with ‘Feng Shui’ principals in mind: I create art that is useful, in that it enhances one’s home environment for specific purposes. For example by hanging certain pieces in key areas of the home, they are seen to effectively bring Peace, Abundance, Love, Protection etc. into one’s life. Take for example my fruit bowls, to be placed on the coffee table to attract abundance. And the ‘freedom’ art –of birds flying over mountains– are to be hung in a prominent place to remind you that you ARE NOW free. I live with my artist husband John Lyes and consider the west coast our home.
